7 Tips to Using Coupons: Make Money for Your Family
For me the hardest part of using coupons is always finding the time to organize them. There are many places to go to get coupons including these here:
But, finding the time to use them, the way to use them, how to store them and when enough is enough are all things that every couponer has wondered and maybe even faced themselves.
I want to give you my 7 tips to using coupons, make money, save money and still have fun.
- Make Time for Couponing. Give yourself time to organize and clip your coupons so you can remain excited about couponing. It can quickly become a chore if you find that you’re dreading organizing your coupons.
- Keep Your Coupons Organized. Flip through your grocer’s weekly ads, know the sales cycles and keep your couponing binder organized say to day – don’t get behind. This will help keep you organized in a big way, making couponing more fun.
- Know Your Sale Pricepoints. This is HUGE and I don’t know why or how this ended up as number three on this list! Know what a great pricepoint is in your area. We don’t see coupons for shredded cheese too often, so in this example, if the two cup shredded cheese bags are on sale for 99¢ each, stock up! This is a fantastic price if you have a coupon or not, so it’s for sure one to get in on!
- Sign up for Clubs and Newsletters. The newspapers aren’t the only (and sometimes not the best) way to get coupons anymore. A lot of brands offer coupons on their own sites so when you check them frequently you’ll see savings they’re offering their customers directly. Companies that offer direct savings include:
- Invest in a great printer. Your printer will end up saving you a lot of money in the long run. It will prove to be beneficial to have a great printer. And, please take into account the ink prices. A great place to get cheap inkjet printer ink is InkFarm. See the Inkjet Ink prices.
- Find a Couponing Friend. It can really help to have someone to share your wins with. When I first started couponing one of my best girlfriends had also started – it was awesome to hear her wins and be able to share mine. It was also nice to have someone else in my local area to keep an eye on local clearance sales and such so we could take advantage of those deals.
- Give Yourself Some Grace. Couponing is hard, it takes time and nobody is perfect. As great as it will feel saving over 30% on your grocery bill using coupons, you’ll find it refreshing at times to take a break. Give yourself some leeway and take a break here and there, especially while on vacations or in times of need, for example when you or a family member is ill, etc.
Most of all, try to have fun using coupons and saving money. Things will be much more fun if you have fun with it!
