Is Kindle Unlimited a free program for Prime members?

Kindle Unlimited is not included in an Amazon Prime membership. Kindle Unlimited is a standalone subscription service and must be purchased separately from your Amazon Prime subscription. It has a monthly fee of $9.99 per month.

However, if you are already an Amazon Prime member, Amazon will now loan you free books. You can borrow one book a month by going to the “Kindle Owners’ Lending Library” in the Kindle Store on your Kindle device.

Books with the Prime icon can be borrowed for free for the month (as long as you’re a Prime member).

With Kindle Unlimited, however, you can borrow as many books per month as you want.

Do you own Kindle books forever?

You may own a Kindle full of books, but in reality, the only thing you truly own is the Kindle. Buried in the spaghetti code that is Amazon\’s Kindle license agreement is the truth: your eBooks are not yours. You have a license agreement to view those books, and Amazon can revoke it at any time.
