Walmart shoppers, I know there have been issues in the past with coupons being accepted / not accepted by cashiers, so I wanted to let you know that Walmart has updated their coupon policy. Take a look at the highlights below.
The following coupons are accepted by Walmart, no questions asked:
- Manufacturers coupons (e.g., SmartSource, Red Plum inserts, etc.)
- Printable coupons (e.g., Coupons.com, RedPlum.com)
- Competitors coupons for a specific item at a specific price
- Soft drink container caps
- Catalina coupons identified as “manufacturers coupons”
The following coupons will not be accepted by Walmart:
- Printable coupons for free products (i.e., no purchase required)
- Competitors coupons for dollars/cents or percentage off, buy one get one free, and double/triple value coupons
There are a few simple guidelines to keep in mind when using coupons at Walmart:
- Only one coupon per item.
- Coupons must list an expiration date and be redeemed prior to the expiration date.
- Coupons may exceed the purchase price. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the cart purchase.
- Coupons must be presented at the time of purchase.
Last, manager or supervisor approval will be required in the following cases:
- 40 or more coupons being used.
- Use of a coupon with a value at or above $20.
- Redeeming $50 or more in coupons in one transaction.
So what do you think about the new Walmart Coupon Policy? Walmart would love your feedback via this quick survey.

I do not understand walmarts decision to stop accepting coupons for free products. I will be contacting my state attorney generals office to inquire if this is even legal. Walmart does not make the law. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I have a coupon for a free “balloon time variety” product because I wrote the company about my damaged product. Are you telling me I will not be able to use my coupon to replace my damaged product from your store?
