Combine sugar, butter, syrup, salt and vanilla.

Microwave in microwavable bowl for 2 1/2 minutes.

Stir and microwave another 2 minutes.

Put in baking soda and stir.

Pour cereal and nuts into large bowl and pour caramel mixture over the cereal and nuts.

Pour onto cookie sheet and cool.

Once the mixture is about dry, pull large chunks apart into manageable pieces and let cool all that way.
