Wondering what you should buy on Amazon? Without a doubt start with these 15 things…
What Should You Buy on Amazon? These 15 Things for Starters.
Are you an Amazon shopper? For many people Amazon offers amazing savings and convenience of fast shipping to your front door that you can’t get from running around town to the places to get these items individually.
But it’s important to know the best items to be buying on Amazon due to the low prices and the convenience of having them on your doorstep within just a few days.
Before I get started on the 15 things that you should be buying on Amazon, there is one important item to note. I have an Amazon Prime membership (you can share Amazon Prime accounts, too!) I think that having an Amazon Prime membership makes me so much more likely to shop Amazon for these items. If you are not sure about paying for an Amazon Prime membership you can try a 30 day Amazon Prime membership for free. OR if you are a college student with a .edu email address you can get a 6 month free Amazon Prime trial here. This is a great way to try Amazon Prime and see if you like it. There are many other perks to having an Amazon Prime membership and you can see them in this post I wrote: 14 Things You Need to Know About Shopping Amazon Online.
On to the 15 things that you should (almost always) be buying on Amazon:
- Toilet Paper
- Beauty Items/Toiletries
- Diapers
- Baby Wipes
- Movies
- Toys
- Kitchen Accessories & Tools
- Kids Accessories
- Women’s Accessories
- Shoes
- eBooks
- Books
- Music
- Novelties
- Paper Goods
Toilet Paper:
Just about every day you can snag a great price on toilet paper on Amazon. And, you will not have to lug the toilet paper to your car in the snow, sleet, rain or heat. And that, my friends is the real deal. While I do know that the big box stores offer some great stock up prices and clippable coupons on toilet tissue, the convenience (and almost always) price trumps buying on Amazon vs. in store on this item.
You’ll want to order via subscribe and save when ordering toilet paper on Amazon, but it’s simple to cancel your membership if you decide not to keep it.
When you choose to checkout via Subscribe and Save from Amazon.com you’ll receive free shipping to your home and you are in no way obligated to continue your subscription. After your order has shipped to your home and arrived, you’ll simply head back over to Amazon.com and cancel your subscription if you wish to do so. And, if you subscribe to five or more items to be delivered in the same month, you’ll save 15% off your entire subscribe & save purchase instead of the regular 5%. There’s another huge perk to buy toilet paper on Amazon.
Beauty Items/Toiletries:
Personally I love to buy my hair products (I love this hair texturizer for volume!), makeup, facial masks and washes on Amazon. The prices can’t be beat and again, not having to worry if the product is in stock or the salon is open when I arrive… those are all great reasons to buy these items online.
Diapers:
Through the Amazon Family program (formerly known as Amazon Mom) you’ll get an additional 20% off your diapers and wipes purchases along with the 5% subscribe and save discount. This is HUGE. No coupon clipping and (a biggie for me when my kiddos were little) no running to the store to restock and have to lug diapers to the car. My diapers were always on my doorstep.
Baby Wipes:
Always, always, always buy baby wipes on Amazon. Unless there’s an odd brand that Amazon doesn’t carry then your best best price wise is always Amazon. When my babies were little, I would buy wipes buy the box and never pay over a penny per wipe and that was 8 (and 5) years ago. The same thing rings true today. For example, these Huggies wipes are about a penny per wipe almost always. And, when there’s a clippable coupon – BOOM!
Movies:
I always buy DVDs and Blu rays on Amazon. The prices are fantastic and more times than not, there’s an additional offer or freebie that comes with my purchase. Love that! And, there’s a huge selection of DVD’s under $5 and Blu ray movies under $10.
Toys:
Nine times out of ten I will buy birthday gifts for my kids friends and gifts for my kids online on Amazon (keep an eye on my toys & games category). On top of the best prices I also love the fact that I can keep an eye on the price and request a refund from Amazon if the price goes down further. And, in Iowa (along with over 20 other states) Amazon doesn’t charge sales tax so I save a few bucks here and there too by buying on Amazon.
Kitchen Accessories & Tools:
Amazon is a rockstar place to buy kitchen accessories because of the prices! Get HUGE discounts on items as you catch them. A great way to keep an eye on items is to sign up for my newsletter and/or to bookmark this page to see the best prices and choose from the menus on the lefthand side of the page.
Kids Accessories:
From headbands, to bows to diaper covers to baby hair bands to bowties, photo prop costumes and ties. Amazon is the place to buy all of these things. You will likely wait quite some time for shipping as sometimes these things come from a ways away, but Amazon is the place to look for these things.
Women’s Accessories:
Kind of along the same lines as kids accessories, Amazon is a great place to buy all of these same things (headbands) and more.
Shoes:
When you buy shoes on Amazon rest assured that you’re going to get the right size as you can order several sizes and return (for FREE!) the ones that don’t fit. So, not only are you getting fantastic prices but you’re also going to be able to try out each size on your own feet. I love this free returns on shoes policy!!
eBooks:
Every single day of the week I post ten eBooks that you can get completely free from Amazon. You can find that post daily free Kindle books here. It’s a super popular post and a great way to get Kindle books for free!
Books:
Whether you’re after kids board books, textbooks or books for casual reading ,the place to buy books is on Amazon due to the fantastic prices. You’ll save big bucks by buying on Amazon. And, don’t forget that you can sell your text books online for money and Amazon credit, too.
Music:
When you are a member of Amazon you’ll be able to stream music completely free (hello!) that’s a huge deal!! Learn all about Prime music here.
Novelties:
Looking for Valentine’s, Halloween trinkets, birthday favors or class party supplies? Amazon is the place to go! I am loving the finger lights for about a penny a piece that I used on these Frugal Non-Food Class Valentines.
Paper Goods:
Wrapping back around on the tail end on paper goods. Paper towels, dishwashing liquid, you know, items that you buy to use around the home… these are all items that you’re going to get prices on on Amazon. Subscribe & save is the key, though. Getting that additional 5% off and a great price is that kicker.
I love to hear from you! What items would you add to this list?
