Pulled Pork with Root Beer Sandwiches

I love a good crockpot recipe as they are so nice to throw together in the morning or at lunch and leave so you can work, run errands or whatever the case may be. I thought I oughta try it out! All in all, I spent about $11 on this recipe. With that being said though (and what I love about this recipe!) is that I had everything in my kitchen to throw this together, except for the pork and hamburger buns, so it was a pretty inexpensive dinner and easy, too! And, it actually ended up lasting through two dinners for our family of four and a lunch, too!  🙂 It's definitely a keeper, and yes, it's delicious! However, I warn you it is very, very sweet. Perfect for kids! One we will make again!

  • 2 pounds pork shoulder or butt
  • 1 12 oz. can root beer
  • 1/3 – 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce, more or less to taste

Place all ingredients in the slow cooker for 4-6 hours and bake to taste. Once cooked all the way through, shred to pork and top with sauce. Yum!
