Of course, the first step is to get set up on a blog platform. I previously used Google’s Blogger, which was a wonderful first experience. I’ve since transferred over to WordPress because WordPress offers more tools to help you develop and expand the reach of your blog.
The next step is to work with a professional designer to create a unique look for your blog. Of course there are a variety of free templates available to you, but to be taken seriously as a blogger, you need to have a polished look. I worked with Joy Miller at Five J’s Design and cannot recommend her more highly. I also worked with Cathy at Desperately Seeking WordPress who moved me from Blogger to the WordPress platform. She’s a doll and so quick to respond to any of my technical needs.
Content is king, so write from your heart. Begin to populate your blog with posts that have meaning to you and start to reach out to other bloggers in your area, whether you focus on finding deals or providing parenting advice. Networking with other bloggers is one of the best ways to learn and become the best blogger you can be.
