Must Have Info: 7 Target Shopping Tips
I have a confession to make. I could live at Target. I absolutely love shopping at Target… but there are several Target shopping tricks that could give you big savings – let me share my favorites…
1. When talking Target clearance you can always tell the discount by looking in the upper righthand corner of the sticker to tell if it’s 30%, 50% or 70% off. And, if an item ends in a $0.06 (or $0.96, $0.86 and so forth) or $0.08 and so forth it will be marked down again. If it ends on $0.04 or any denomination of $0.04 it’s at its final markdown.
2. REDcard debit and credit card holders will of course get 5% off their purchase, but they’ll also receive an extra 30 days to return nearly all items purchased with their REDcard at Target and Target.com. And, if you use your REDcard debit card you can also request up to $40 cash back, too. Head here to find out more.
3. Target marks departments down based on a schedule.
Most Targets are as follows:
- Monday: Electronics, Accessories, Kids Clothing, Books, Baby, and Stationery
- Tuesday: Domestics, Women’s Clothing, Pets and, Market food items
- Wednesday: Men’s Clothing, Health and Beauty, Diapers, Lawn/Garden items, and Furniture
- Thursday: Housewares, Lingerie, Shoes, Toys, Sporting Goods, Decor and Luggage
- Friday: Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, and Jewelry
4. Target has mobile coupons available to be sent directly to your phone. Head here to sign up. It’s crazy easy.
5. Target offers a service called Target Cartwheel that allows you to save on top of printable and mobile coupons. In case you’re not familiar with Target’s Cartwheel program, simply head here to get a Target Cartwheel account. Press “add” to add offers to your personalized Cartwheel. Next either print off your selected offers and take them with you to your Target to scan when the appropriate items are purchased or, download the Target Cartwheel offer on your phone and show your Target Cartwheel barcode at checkout to receive your extra savings. It really is that easy. It’s seriously rocks. Sign up here.

6. And let’s talk price matching at Target. Target will price match like items to online retailers Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, ToysRUs.com, and BabiesRUs.com. You’ll also be able to bring in a local competitors ad to price match identical items, too. You can find out more about the Target price matching policy here.
AND, starting October 2015, Target will also begin price matching Costco.com (so excited about this one!), Gamestop.com and Macys.com. And you can price match both at your local Target store AND online at Target.com. See the article on the new price matching policy and total of 29 stores here. Online shoppers and in-store shoppers can also get a price match, with the window now of 14 days, instead of 7. The idea is to offer customers the same policy regardless of how they shop from Target, whether online or in-store, and reflect how people shop today. 🙂
7. Target also offers printable Target coupons from their site here that can be used in conjunction with printable and insert manufacturer coupons as well as Target Cartwheel for BIG savings. Don’t head out to Target without checking the Target coupon page. You can bookmark that by heading here.
