I must say, I have been absolutely blown away by the selfless outpouring of support for the people of Haiti. This kind of overwhelming crisis really makes you step back, even in the midst of our own economic struggles, and realize how much we truly have when the Haitians have so little.

There are many ways to help, and even if you are struggling financially, you can donate simply by leaving comments on frugal blogs. Below is a list of ten blogs (though many more are doing the same) that are making donations based on the number of comments they receive. I hope you will visit them to show your support.

  • Money Saving Mom: Leave a comment sharing what you have done to help those in Haiti by Thursday (1/21) and Crystal will donate $.30 for each one to Numana.
  • Surviving the Stores: Leave a comment or a link to a blog post on what you are doing to help the Haitians and Rachel will donate $2 for each one (up to $500) to Compassion International.
  • Thrifty NW Mom: Leave a comment by end of day on Monday (1/18) and Jen will donate $.50 for every comment (up to $200) to World Vision.

I’m jumping on this incredibly important bandwagon as well. I will donate $1 for every comment or blog post link left by end of day on Monday (up to $500) sharing how you personally are helping with Haiti relief efforts, whether it’s by sending a donation by text message (text HAITI to 90999 to donate $10), working with your church or going through your stockpile to donate much-needed supplies to those in Haiti. I plan to make my donation to Save the Children.

Thank you so much for taking the time to participate. Please keep the people of Haiti in your thoughts and prayers.

My teenage son went on a mission trip to Northwest Haiti Christian Mission summer before last, and he is/was supposed to return during spring break. He took a Mason jar to high school yesterday and today and asked his classmates to donate. He filled it both days and has about $100 to give to the missionaries there. See for updates on what they are seeing at their mission facilities.

We’re getting involved in our church ministry to help Haiti. We’re also going to get our kids involved by collecting change to donate.

  9. Pam says

thank you so much for doing this. I also donated all my swagbucks to the relief effort. Mypoints is also doing the same but haven’t found the link yet to donate my points there as well. Our school is collecting change and already donated their jean day money (they wear uniforms) through Catholic Relief which is an established charity in Haiti.

Right now I now a lot of the missionaries in Haiti are already hurting. And now they have a lot of refuges in their area. We are close friends with some missionaries about 120 miles away from Port-Au-Prince and they have seen a great increase of people this week. I know my family and I will send what we can, but if you can send extra money do the missionaries in Haiti to help them with all the extra people who need food and medical help. Another great cause to send your money to is they were there hours after the earthquake. They help with food and flying people to Haiti. Check out their website. Thank you for all that you are doing. God Bless.

my children’s school is fundraising with our rotary club. all donations to be sent directly. thanks for your contribution as well.

  18. Brent Furrow says

I don’t like the websites that say stuff like “For every person that clicks here, we’ll give a dollar to earthquake relief up to $500.” Either donate the sum of money to the Haiti relief or don’t, but marketing gimmics that require frivolous activity by consumers in order to raise money for a worthy philanthropic and humanitarian cause are in extreme poor taste, and are not in the true spirit of giving to those in desperate need.

Put yourself in their situation– would you want your monetary aid dependent on some nonsense activity by website users?

    • Ana says

I agree with you this is not the time to depend on comments to make a donation this people need all our help and to wait on comments to see how much to donate IS in poor taste!

you can remove me from that service? Thanks!
