Life will be forever changed when you learn the best way to clean shower glass doors. You’ll save both money and time!
Frugal Tip: Best Way to Clean Shower (Glass Doors Included)
When we moved into our home about three years ago my husband and I were both so excited about all of the fun and exciting new things that we had that we’ve never had before. We’d go from one sink to two sinks in the master bathroom for the first time again in seven years, we’d have a third stall on the garage to … mmm accumulate “stuff” …. and we’d also have a beautiful glass and tile walk in shower… wouldn’t life be so grand … we thought?
Until we had to wash the shower, that is!
But, I found the best, inexpensive way to clean the shower glass wall that I have to share, because I think it’s the trick to keeping shower walls clean and also the trick to keeping my sanity. And, this doesn’t apply to only cleaning shower glass or glass shower walls, in fact. This trick applies to all shower walls or just places that get wet and you see water marks.
The secret “sauce” if you will, is in the preparation of the shower. The secret isn’t even in the washing as much as it is in making sure that your area is set up and ready for the water and calcium that will want to accumulate there and sit and leave water marks.
Are you ready? This is the secret. The secret is waxing your shower walls, yes… just like a car detailer would wax a car.
For cleaning glass shower doors and walls, you’ll need:
Car Wax – I love this brand and it will last forever
Squeegee – this kind will work, or you can buy one from Ikea, Dollar Tree, etc.
Steps for cleaning shower doors:
Make sure your shower walls are completely dry
Squirt wax onto a clean cloth, a quarter size amount at a time
Wipe in circles all around your wall. I usually start at the top left, work my way over, go down to the next row, work my way left, repeat, repeat.
Grab a clean, dry microfiber cloth and start wiping where you started with the wax. It should be dry by now and will come right off with a clean microfiber towel.
That’s it! I do this about three times a year and water repels off the walls. After anyone showers in the shower they use the squeegee to wipe off excess water from the walls to keep it clean longer.
** Don’t use the wax on the floors, or you’ll be slipping and sliding!
I hope this tip helps you keep a cleaner shower, longer! 🙂
