Money-Saving iPhone App #20: LivingSocial

I’ve become a big fan of local daily deal sites like LivingSocial, Groupon and Tippr. Already this summer I’ve signed up for a river cruise and a kayak tour, both at discounts greater than 50%. I receive the daily deals in my inbox each morning, but am now a big fan of the free LivingSocial app in particular because it alerts me to new deals and also makes it so simple to check out deals in other cities.

Just like the free Groupon app, you can purchase daily deals and show a LivingSocial deal voucher to a merchant right on your iPhone or iPod Touch. No printing required. Plus, the free LivingSocial app has a deals map so you can check to see if you’ve purchased a deal at a nearby restaurant. This is perfect since several times a week LivingSocial has fantastic restaurant deals (generally 50% off or more).

One more benefit to the free LivingSocial app is that if you spread the word about a deal you buy and three of your friends also buy the deal, you’ll get yours for free. Nice.
