I’ve been an Amazon shopper for years and years and in the vast majority of cases I’ve found prices at Amazon to be better than any other online or bricks-and-mortar merchant. With this in mind, I found the free Amazon Mobile app for iPhone and iPod Touch to be great not for buying merchandise, but rather for comparison shopping.
Here’s an example. I was out shopping at Best Buy yesterday with my family. We wanted to get a flat screen TV for my husband’s office. We found one that we liked and immediately I pulled up Amazon Mobile on my iPhone to find out the price on Amazon, and they had it for $20 less.
Of course, my next move was to let the sales associate know I could get the TV on Amazon for $20 less (about 7% less than the price at Best Buy). I asked if he’d honor the price on Amazon and he did - no questions asked. I just saved another $20 thanks to my new iPhone.
Using the Amazon Mobile app you can also create a wish list or check out product recommendations. This feature really came in handy as we were checking out various televisions. You can see or take advantage of the Deal of the Day and Lighting Deals as they pop up too.
