Money Saving iPhone App #8: Groupon

I’ve talked about the local daily deal sites before, like Groupon, LivingSocial and Tippr, since you can save upwards of 50% and more on local services ranging from hair cuts to photo sessions to golf lessons to restaurant meals. So naturally I was excited when I learned that you can also access Groupon, the largest of the daily deal sites, on your iPhone or iPod Touch too.

Each day you’ll find a new great deal (it switches to the next deal at 5 a.m. Monday-Friday), and you can also see the hot deals in the 40+ other Groupon cities. I personally like to check out a handful of other cities that aren’t too far away to see if there are any deals that might be good for a family trip or a getaway with my husband.

For example, I live about 90 minutes from Baltimore, and Groupon is offering a 50-Minute Speedboat Tour for just $12 (reg. $25), so that could be pretty fun to do as a family. My husband and I have also been talking about a trip to Las Vegas, so a $28 ticket (reg. $66) for a Haunted Vegas Tour through Groupon could be neat too. Plus, with the Groupon, you can show your purchased Groupon voucher on your phone. No need to print them out.

I also bought an oven clean vouechr for SOS ovens but via KGB. Got given the same excuse, plus others when I kept hassling them for a rearranged appointment. Both KGB and the supplier then started to ignore my emails when i requested a refund until I produced a legal letter via More Than and emailed that to the supplier and KGB. The supplier now decides to respond to my email stating that KGB hold the money i fail to believe that as well as I don't think this is a very honest company. I threatened both with taking them to a small claims court. Its not about the money any more but now about the principal. One thing I hate is poor service and being ignored. Interesting though that you were given the bereavement excuse back in November 2011. I bought my vouechr in March this year and was given that excuse in May. I will be using this post against them to prove what an absolute dodgy company SOS ovens are. Maybe I will also contact trading standards
