Money-Saving iPhone App #1: CardStar
I was excited to read all the suggestions and feedback I received yesterday when I let you know I was kicking off a series called “30 Days of Money-Saving Apps.” You told me about lots of great apps, like RedLaser, Yowza and Mint. I’ve checked out a couple of these, but look forward to exploring even more apps, and I hope you’ll check out some of them with me.
The money-saving app for today is CardStar. This is one of the first apps shared with me, by the AT&T sales associate no less. It’s a free iPhone app that lets you to store all of your loyalty cards on your phone.
CardStar even creates bar codes for your CVS ExtraCare card, Harris Teeter VIC card, etc. Just pull up CardStar, then hand your iPhone to the cashier to scan the bar code. I love CardStar because it makes it nearly impossible to leave a store without the store discounts.
CardStar lets me keep my store loyalty cards, airline frequent flyer numbers, health insurance cards, and various other rewards programs right on my phone. I don’t fly that often, but I have to wonder how many miles I’ve missed out on because I had no clue what or where my United Mileage Plus number was.
While CardStar won’t offer you discounts, it will help ensure you receive the savings you should be receiving at various stores. We all have our phones with us, and now CardStar makes sure we have our loyalty and membership cards at our side too.
Have you tried out CardStar on your iPhone? I’d love to hear what you think.
