I’m back and I whole-heartedly apologize for going dark here at Coupon Cravings for three days. As some of you know, I took a new job managing public relations for a start-up called ZipList back in May, and today is a big day. It’s launch day and time to tell the world about ZipList, a free online shopping list and recipe search service. I’m even the star of the tutorial video above to help you learn more about how to use ZipList!

As part of the launch, I’m happy to share that MarthaStewart.com has integrated the ZipList shopping list tool through 1000s of recipes on her sites. But before I say more about Martha, let me tell you more about what you can do with ZipList:

  • Share your shopping list with family members so others can add their own items or even help you shop if they drop by the store since the list is always up-to-date.
  • Update or access the shopping list anywhere: the web, text messages, email, IM (coming soon: iPhone).
  • Search 100,000s of recipes and add ingredients to your shopping list with just a click or two.
  • Save any recipe you find on the web in a single recipe box.

If you’re a Martha Stewart fan, just search the recipes on her site and every recipe will have an “Add to List” tag next to it, so you can all the ingredients to your shopping list. Or, you can click “Add to Box” to add the recipe to your central recipe box along with any other recipes across the web.

Starting today, you can also purchase “Martha’s Everyday Food,” a new app for iPhone and iPod Touch users, which is available for $.99 in the Apple Apps Store. Powered by ZipList, you can search recipes, receive a daily alert with recipe ideas and add meal ingredients to your weekly shopping list.

If you get a chance to check out ZipList, let me know what you think. You can also become a Facebook Fan of ZipList and follow ZipList on Twitter at @ziplist.

Thank You Erin!! I heard about ZipList yesterday via Twitter and was super happy to see the site!!

Just last week I tweeted this:

Looking for a “online recipe box” where I can save recipes from blogs and other sources. Like a social bookmarking site for recipes!

@thecountrygal I know some use http://delicious.com bookmark site, but I really want something for recipes only. User friendly and free! LOL

@thecountrygal I am also hoping for one that has a “toolbar button” to really make it easy to add. Probably asking for too much. LOL!!

ZipList is everything I was looking for and more!! I know it is more Grocery List based, but I will be using that feature for sure!

I really love the recipe box feature and that it has the Ziplist toolbar button. Although, right now whenever trying to use the feature I get a message that says:

“ZipList cannot find a recipe on this page. If you wish to copy the recipe title and ingredients into the boxes provided, ZipList will save this information in your Recipe Box along with a link to this page.”

The feature isn’t recognizing any recipes on the web anywhere. I at first thought it was an issue with recognizing recipes on blogs, but it isn’t working anywhere on the web.

Thank You to everyone at ZipList for this site!! I love it! Now time to start spreading the word!!

Kendra,

Thank you so much for the kind words. We are SO excited about ZipList too, and we’re getting reading to launch some free tools for bloggers to be able to incorporate a shopping list and recipe box into their sites.

With regard to the error you are experiencing, ZipList can recognize most every recipe on the web, but there are certainly some that it cannot. Go ahead and drop me and email or send a tweet out to @eringifford with the site URL and we will look into it for you!

Thanks, Erin :)

That is pretty nifty! I really like how you can send the list to your phone if you forget the shopping list at home.

I think this will be great! I always forget what I need to get. I can not however, get the site to take my mobile number. When I click on the box next to “agree to terms and usage” it won’t let me click “accept.” What should I do?

Susie,

Send me an email to erin . gifford (at) zip list (dot) com. Just make the ziplist one word and take out the spaces between my name and the dot. We’ll get it solved for you!

Thanks, Erin :)

Hi Erin,

I love “ZipList”. That said I wanted to give you two thumbs up on your video debut from the standpoint of a long time video producer and photographer. My hat is off to you and your team for producing a great tutorial for “ZipList”. You guys not only covered the how too’s in an easy to follow format but the lighting, audio and graphics were right on the mark. Speaking from a producers standpoint I’m not sure if all of your readers will appreciate the hard work that went into your video but they will truly appreciate you coming up with an innovative way to help them save money. It looks like the competition has some catching up to do. Congrats! Cliff

I’m loving ZipList!! I’ve already texted a few items to my list! I’m hoping by organizing by store I’ll be able to save some time. Thanks!
