Its real simple! I eat at Fridays all the time and I love their food. You want a 25-30% tip from me (I know servers work hard), all I ask is keep my drinks refilled, make sure my food comes out at a decent time, and try not to screw the order up too much. I can deal with a little mishap here and there, but it annoys me when servers don't write the order down and screw up, that's inexcusable. Thank you.

Reply to Killer Grog: just wanted to make myself clear, I was not demanding that you pay me 30%...I meant that I had to work my a$$ off to "Earn" 30% off each table to leave there with any money at the end of the night...people are free to leave what they want. My point was to tell people that to remember that your server does not keep all the money you give her (or him) eventhough that was "Our" hard earned money, we gave great service to knowing that they will come back and see us, not every server is a money hungry bi#ch, I hate the servers who think they can flash a smile and get a good tip, you need good service to bring them back in. Just one more thing to let you think about, I work 8Ohrs per check (bi-weekly) at $3.65 per hour and my check is most of the time only $8 dollars...I kid you not, I personally depend on only my tips to pay my bills. THANKS!

Thats an issue you have to take up with the management or the owners of the Franchise... not the customers...
I'm there to eat, not worry about who has to pay who.
Granted, it sound like a casino/pyramid scheme there... lol.. but honestly, thats not my problem - I should have to tip you 30% because your getting ripped off by the establishment you CHOSE to work for? I think not buddy..

It not about being cheap, its hard earned money for everyone.
When you go to Best Buy and pay $100 for a TV, do you give $15-25 to the guy/girl that brings it out? To the cashier? Do you give bus operators extra $ for driving you safely - or 15% of that day's pay to a fire-fighter for saving your car?
Get over yourself - the industry has gotten used to it, but its way out of hand.
Its not about being cheap, it about you taken what you get and be thankful you got it...
Stop complaining or quit your job - there's 50000 people ready to take your place...
...think about how much of a "tip" you should give a doctor next time you should (hopefully not ever) land in an ER..

Gratuity, tips... call it what you will: its basically a VOLUNTARY reward for good service. If it weren't for COOKS and BUSINESS MANAGERS and FRANCHISE OWNERS we wouldn't have a place to eat - almost anyone can adapt to smile, talk and carry a plate of food.
A good server doesn't choke out customers, drop plates or spill drinks and knows when to say "hello", "goodbye" and "do you need anything else"..
All a server needs to is be nice and be competent so as to not lose their job, drive away customers or not get tipped.
If you DO get tipped, its whatever the customer chooses - be happy and satisfied with that, otherwise quit complaining or quit your job, simple as that.

I agree, when I worked at Fridays I had to tip out my Busser, Bar Tender, and Food Runner...what really got me was the bar tender, if I had $1,000 dollars in sales for my shift I would have to give them 1.5% tip out which was $15 dollars!!!! tis is off of total food sales, I didn't even sell one beer that day, but it was one of their rules, I also tiped the busser $15 and the food runner $5...for a total of $35 dollas in tip out that came from my hard earned tips, so for a 10hr shift, only $1,000 in sales and after tip out I made only $65 dollars thats only $6.50 per hour if people only tiped 10%....so I had to work my butt off to earn 20-30% off each table just to walk with any kind of money, some night I found myself tipping out $50 dollars of my money, us server are paying the wages of all the bussers, bar tenders, and food runners....so please remember that when you leave a tip, you are paying for 3 people, we dont keep all of the money, if we didn't have to tip out, I would be fine with what ever my guest left me.

What I think a lot of people don't realize is often a server also has to tip out. In my case it's three percent of my sales(before the coupon is added) this quickly adds up. $1000 in sales costs me $30. Most guests don't factor in the coupon when leaving a tip. When a guest stiffs their server.... They end up paying to wait on that on that table Of course that can be very frusterating!

I agree w/Anonymous. I normally give 18% to 20% of my bill for a tip. But you have to make sure you give each table of customers your best service or lets face it...You aren't worth a big tip and if your attitude ruins someones evening, because you are being a jerk then you aren't going to get a tip from them. That kind of attitude just keeps escalating down....I base my tip on a servers attitude, whether they come back and pick up my plates that we are done with so that I have room at my table, makes sure my drinks are filled at all times and that they are courteous to not only me, but the people around me.

Tipping is ridiculous. Nobody tipped me to do my office job. Let the restuarant pay a decent wage and charge more for the meal.

Also, if you must have tipping, it should be a standard fee for a meal, not a percentage. If a waitress carries a plate with a lobster on it and another one carries a plate with a hamburger on it, why should you have to give the one carrying the lobster 3 times the tip, they are both doing the same amount of work.
