I went to Harris Teeter last night since I was dying to find out if a deal in their weekly ad was too good to be true. This week they’re running a “Back-to-School Cash” promotion. Just purchase 8 Kellogg’s, Keebler, Sunshine or Eggo products with your VIC card and get $10 back.

I looked over the list of qualifying items and noticed that Eggo waffles were 4/$5. I quickly figured out that 8 boxes of Eggo waffles would cost $10, and then I’d get $10 back, making all 8 boxes totally FREE.

I was sure this was too good to be true, that in fact this was a mis-print. I got to the store and looked around for signage indicating it was an error in the weekly ad. I went to the freezer case and in fact all of the Eggo waffles were marked 4/$5.

I put 8 boxes in my basket and headed to checkout. Of course, the certificate did not print out (the Catalina printer was jammed). So I went to Customer Service, and no questions asked they just gave me $10. Actually it was a $10 gift card. The manager asked if I wanted cash or a gift card. I said whatever was easiest, and really, I didn’t want to make a fuss and I knew I’d be back anyway.

I probably could have waited until Sunday since there will be a $1/2 Eggo Waffles coupon in this weekend’s coupon insert, but I was afraid I’d miss out on this deal if I did. I’m sure glad my kids like frozen waffles as much as they do!

After my sister gave me a waffle iron for my last birthday (?!?!?) I was convinced it would sit up on the high shelf next to the juicer that’s never been opened. But when my wife came home w/ a can of organic instant pancake/waffle batter I figured heck. Called Batter Blaster and ok so I have nothing to compare it to this stuff makes darn good waffles. The kids loved em so I guess we’ll be using the waffle iron after all.
