I had some free time yesterday and decided to pop over to Five Below. If you’ve never been there before, it’s like the Dollar Store, only everything is $5 or less rather than $1.

They had the usual inexpensive greeting cards and wrapping paper, but what caught my eye was Jessica Seinfeld’s book Deceptively Delicious with a bright orange sticker that said $5.00. Now fast forward ten minutes and I’m walking in the door of Books-a-Million. The first book I see is, you guessed it, Deceptively Delicious. Not for $5, but for 10% off the cover price, or $22.50.

I wanted to stake out Books-a-Million to grab anyone who picked up Deceptively Delicious and push them two doors down to buy it from Five Below. Alas, I had to get home to the kids.

Has this ever happened to you? I can think of many times too when I’ve been next to someone in line at the grocery store and I wanted to say “You know, that’s on sale buy-one-get-one-free at such and such store, and there’s a coupon in today’s paper.” Maybe I will say that one day. Have you ever been so bold?
